Child Therapy

Child therapy works best through play. Play therapy is a way for children to express their thoughts and feelings through their natural language. Using an Adlerian approach, I look beyond the behavior to understand what your child may be communicating underneath. Together, we focus on strengthening the Crucial C’s, helping children feel Capable, Connected, Courageous and that they Count. By understanding the purpose behind behaviors and building these core foundations, children develop healthier ways to express emotions, solve problems and relate to others.

Play Therapy

Play therapy meets children where they are, using the language they know best and helps them move toward confidence, connection and emotional resilience.

In sessions, children use toys, art, storytelling, sand, games and imaginative play to express thoughts and feelings they may not yet have the words to explain. I observe patterns in their play, themes that emerge and the emotions underneath the behavior.

Through a consistent, safe relationship, children begin to:

  • Express and process big feelings

  • Develop emotional regulation skills

  • Practice problem-solving and flexibility

  • Build confidence and a sense of capability

  • Strengthen connection and social skills

Sometimes play is light and fun, other times it may showcase deeper worries, frustrations, or beliefs. By responding intentionally within the play, I help children make new meaning, develop healthier coping skills and experience themselves as capable and understood.

Parents are an important part of the process. I provide support and guidance so growth continues beyond the therapy room.

Therapy may be right for your child if they are experiencing:

  • Big emotions or frequent meltdowns

  • Anxiety or worries that feel hard to manage

  • Behavioral changes at home or school

  • Difficulty with transitions, relationships, or self-confidence
