Brianna Desouza, LMHC, RPT
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Registered Play Therapist, and Qualified Supervisor.
Life can feel overwhelming at times especially when you are carrying stress, anxiety, big emotions or navigating a season of change. You might feel stuck, unsure or like you should be handling things better than you are. Therapy does not have to feel intimidating. It can be a space where you feel supported, understood and able to show up as yourself.
Before opening my private practice, I spent eight years working in community mental health, supporting individuals and families through complex, real world challenges. That experience shaped the way I work today and reinforced the importance of meeting people where they are, staying flexible and focusing on what feels most helpful in everyday life.
At the core of my work is building a genuine connection so clients feel supported and understood. I strive to create a space that is nonjudgmental, collaborative and grounded, where you do not have to have everything figured out.
If you are looking for a therapist that gets it and shows up as a real human along side of you, then I look forward to meeting you.

What makes my approach different?
Therapy with me is not about being analyzed or told what to do. I focus on building a genuine, collaborative relationship where clients feel safe, understood, and respected. Because I work with children, teens, and adults, I bring a developmental lens to therapy, understanding how emotional patterns form over time and tailoring care to each stage of life. I believe meaningful change happens when clients feel truly seen, not judged or rushed.
As an RPT, I use play to understand the purpose behind behaviors and the beliefs or unmet needs beneath them. When we address those deeper layers, children naturally grow in confidence, emotional regulation and relationship skills.
The Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential means I’ve completed advanced training and supervision in play therapy beyond my graduate education. Recognized by the Association for Play Therapy, this certification reflects specialized experience in using developmentally appropriate, evidence-based approaches specifically for children.
With trauma informed care, I don’t just focus on behaviors, I look at the story underneath them and the nervous system patterns driving them.
I’m also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing or traumatic experiences so they no longer feel overwhelming. EMDR allows clients to heal at the root, not just manage symptoms.
